Canon introduces crop guides for select cameras

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Canon U.S.A. Inc. is following the steps of competitors like Sony and Panasonic who have developed crop guides for portraits for select cameras. A crop guide provides on-screen guidelines to help the photographer precisely position their subjects, ensuring consistent and repeatable results. Using a crop guide is suitable for scenarios when capturing school photos, sports events, or any scenario where subjects need to stand in the same spot repeatedly and reduces the need for extensive post-editing. The crop guide feature is unlockable on the EOS R50, EOS R10, and EOS R7 camera bodies. There is a $100 charge per body.

To update the camera, follow this three-step process:

    1. Send Device: Send the device to Canon’s service center to unlock the Crop Guide.
    2. Activate Crop Guide: Simply select the Crop Guide option from the menu.
    3. Choose Your Guide: Select from the different guides shown above to suit.
